Tasty Tofu Burgers

  • 500g Smarrt Marinated Tofu
  • 50g. oats (oatmeal) (reg., not quick)
  • 1 tbsp. catsup (optional if it’s not accessible)
  • 1 tbsp. Worcestershire (Tamari sauce if desired)
  • 1 small. onion, minced
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • 1 teaspoon. Salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper (white/black)
  • 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • Crumble the Tofu into a large bowl
  • Place oatmeal in blender and blend until you have a coarse flavor.
  • Add oats to tofu; mix well. You can omit this step if the oatmeal is not available Add all remaining ingredients (mix with hands).
  • Form into burger-sized patties and fry at low temperature for about 8 minutes per side. (Use the 2 tbsp. oil for frying.)
  • Makes 6 large burgers.
  • Good on sesame buns.
  • Use any garnishes, lettuce, onions, sprouts, pickles, sliced tomatoes, etc. Can be eaten cold. Keeps well.

  • 1500g of Smarrt Marinated Tofu
  • 3 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 large carrot, grated
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 1/2 tsp. dried basil
  • 2 eggs
  • 100g bread crumbs
  • 75g. walnuts, ground or finely chopped
  • 25g. chopped parsley
  • 1 tbsp. mustard
  • 3 tbsp. soy sauce
  • Black pepper
  • Saute vegetables and basil in oil until tender, about 10 minutes.
  • In large bowl, lightly beat eggs, then add bread crumbs, walnuts, and all remaining ingredients.
  • Mash the tofu with your hands and add it to the bowl, along with the sauteed vegetables.
  • Stir well. Pat into 6 large burgers. Bake on oiled baking sheet, about 30-35 minutes at 375 degrees until golden brown on outside. Serve with ketchup, pickles, tomato slices, lettuce on whole wheat buns.
This is a large batch - may want to half the recipe and use 500 g of Tofu

  • 70g sautéed mushrooms
  • 25 g green onions
  • 5 cloves crushed garlic
  • 50g grated carrots
  • 25g bread crumbs
  • 25g chopped toasted walnuts
  • 100g rolled oats (optional if its not available locally)
  • 25 g cooked rice
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • In a medium bowl, mash tofu.
  • Stir in all the remaining ingredients.
  • Shape into patties and fry in oiled skillet.
  • Top with your favorite toppings and serve on a whole wheat bun.
